Information Center There will be an information table with a mailbox folder for every Labyrinth family. Please check our web site www.labyrinthcoop.org weekly for any updates and news concerning Labyrinth Home Education Co-op. Labyrinth ID/Name badges It is our intention to keep everyone at Labyrinth safe. By everyone wearing a name badge we all get to know each other. On the backside of our Labyrinth ID/ Name badges will be a bar code. Everyone will need to scan their name badge upon entering and exiting the building for safety concerns. In the event of an emergency we will know exactly who should have been in the building and who was absent that day, so that Labyrinth doesn’t send any emergency personnel into a dangerous situation for no reason. Mailbox Policy Mailboxes are a convenience for Labyrinth participants to communicate Labyrinth related information and to distribute tuition checks and other approved literature. Mailboxes are not to be used for solicitation. Please check with the Board before distribution of materials via the mailboxes. Labyrinth Home Education Co-op is not responsible for the loss of any property distributed through or left in mailboxes. Each mailbox will contain a current family schedule (participant maintained) to assist in locating parents/students as needed. Bulletin Board Policy/Disclaimer The bulletin board is available for posting homeschool information among co-op participants. Items posted on the bulletin board do not necessarily constitute Labyrinth Board endorsement or promotion. As a non-profit organization, we are prohibited by law from the “carrying on of propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation,” neither shall we “participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distribution of statements) any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.” Teachers Labyrinth Home Education Co-op does not employ instructors. They are under the employment of the families who have a student attending his/her class. For this reason we do not pay the teachers. You, the parents, pay the teachers directly through a facilitator. We are simply a co-op at which instructors and students can convene, providing assistance to home education enrichment Difficulties with teachers should first be discussed with the teacher, if no resolution is reached then they should be discussed with the Labyrinth Board. Emergency Procedures In case of a fire, alarms will sound and all children should be evacuated along assigned routes to safe areas away from the building. Keep children as calm and quiet as possible. Move quickly but do not run or allow children to run. All exits are clearly marked and emergency exit routes are shown on wall maps in each room. All classes need to remain together with their teacher and facilitator. A Mary Queen of Peace staff member will notify teachers and facilitators when it is safe to re-enter the building. Should we be unable to enter the building again, teachers will need to remain with their students until parents arrive. In the event of an earthquake, everyone should immediately go under a table and assume the duck and cover position. It is important that you stay away from any windows and remain in the room until given further instructions. Labyrinth requires all students, who are not in an assigned class to remain with their parent or in study hall. Snow Policy In case of snow or ice, listen to KVI 570am radio for the school emergency closures. If Issaquah School District is closed or delayed, Labyrinth classes will be cancelled. Class Cancellations Classes may be cancelled at any time at the Board's discretion. If class is cancelled due to teacher's absence, children may be sent to the study hall. In the event of class cancellation/teacher absence, reasonable effort will be made to notify parents prior to class time. Teachers work many hours outside the classroom; therefore, if class(es) are cancelled, tuition will not be refunded. Emergency contact We are independent of the church’s operation and ask that you not call Mary Queen of Peace regarding Labyrinth matters. Please address all inquiries to one of the Labyrinth Organizers. In the event of an emergency where someone at Labyrinth needs to be contacted, call 206-972-2442 on Tuesdays only. Auditing Classes Parent/student auditing (attending without paying tuition) of classes is not permitted. Only students enrolled in the class and their parents are eligible to attend class, siblings not enrolled in class, will be asked to go to the Study Hall. Parents are eligible to enroll in a class, only if there is space available, after Teacher and Labyrinth Board approval. |
