Does your child enjoy art but not science? Or do you have a scientist that is a reluctant artist? This class will help students combine the best of both worlds for some really fun hands on activities. The concept of integrated curriculums helps build confidence in students by allowing them to use their intellectual strengths to approach difficult concepts or tasks. Each week will we work on a special art project while talking about the science behind what we are creating. This will give students the chance to use their own creativity while learning important scientific concepts. Examples of class projects include: Exploring gravity with splatter paintings, investigating animal camouflage with collages, learning about leaf structure by printmaking, exploring wave energy through line expression, and observing chemical properties of solutions by creating salt crystal paintings.
