Writing curriculum developed for the award-winning Bellevue International School. Designed for all levels of writers to awaken students to the precision and descriptive power of language. Constructed from a stong grammatical skills perspective, it addresses grammar topics in the context of a journey toward mastery of the written word. Course proceeds through a series of concrete lessons that lead to sentence construction proficiency, written language fluency, and individual voice. We'll start with simple concepts and prepare thoroughly over time for highly challenging material that hones analytical power. The curriculum leads students to develop the skills of designing, writing, and reading sentences that force higher order thinking skills. Focus is on discrete lessons, in-class practice, repetition and immediate feedback. And it won't be dreary!
