This is a class for students who have had some experience, and can work independently. I give students exposure to a variety of mixed mediums, including: watercolors, acrylics, watercolor pens, pencils and crayons, pastels, collage, and charcoal/pencil. They will learn about famous artists of the past, art terminology, basics of design, color theory, and will have fun in the process. I read about famous artists, show them samples of their work, and simplified samples of my work, and demonstrate the process, then give them a chance to try it. Classical music is also played during class to inspire creativity and relaxation. Homeowrk is not required. We will have occassional art shows to display their work, so I encourage parents to mat their art as they finish them. Many sources are used by instructor: Adventures in Art series, Art A Global Pursuit, Drawing with Children, the Usborne books and many more. I read about famous artists, show them samples of their work, as well as a simplified sample that I have created to explain and demonstrate the process. Students are then invited to try it themselves, with a background of classical music to inspire and relax.
