This class will give students an up close chance to learn about many living creatures big and small. We will begin the year discussing what makes something alive then move on to insects and arachnids. From there, we will encounter a variety of mammals and birds, and then end with reptiles. Students will have the opportunity to interact with the following animals during the course of the year: crickets, millipedes, butterflies, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, tarantulas, sugar gliders, geckos, and a python. They will study the behavior, habitat, and physical features of each of these creatures. Students will also be able to observe the growth and development of rabbits and cavies from birth to weaning. We will also be hatching chicks from eggs and students will be able to candle the eggs to observe the embryonic development.
